The variety belongs to the species Vitis vinifera L. and was historically grown in the Isère valley. The plant possesses high growth vigor. The stipules and leaf vein bases have a pinkish tint, and the tendrils are brownish.

The clusters of the variety are small or medium, conical, winged, and quite compact. The berries are medium-sized, spherical; at full maturity, the skin color changes from green to yellow-green. The variety is susceptible to millerandage.

Hibou blanc is a wine grape variety used for the production of wine characterized by moderate acidity and neutral taste.
