ActiveVitis vinifera L. · Common grape vine

The variety is of ancient natural origin and is considered to be native to the Jura region in France. It is genetically related to the Savagnin, Chenin Blanc, and Sauvignon Blanc varieties. The vines are characterized by weak vigor, a semi-trailing shoot habit, and low yields. The medium-sized berries have a short-elliptical shape and a black-blue or red-violet color with medium-thickness skin.
The variety is sensitive to spring frosts due to early bud burst and is also susceptible to mite infestations, powdery mildew, and gray mold, especially during rainy weather at harvest time. Wine made from this variety possesses structure, full body, and aromas of wild berries, spices, as well as mineral, floral, and herbaceous notes.
