The Merlin variety, also known by the breeding number 26/1, is the result of crossing interspecific hybrids (including Muscadinia rotundifolia and Vitis vinifera) with European grape varieties, in particular Cabernet Dorsa. This is a technical variety intended for the production of red wines.
Wine from this variety has a deep dark color and a full-bodied taste, with characteristics resembling the Merlot variety. The plant has natural resistance to downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola) and powdery mildew (Oidium tuckeri), which contributes to a reduction in the need for chemical pesticide treatment.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
