The variety is a product of targeted crossing of the Sangiovese and Merlot varieties. It is characterized by increased tolerance to environmental stresses: the variety is more drought-tolerant compared to Merlot and withstands late rainfall better compared to Sangiovese.

The wine grape is used for the production of wines possessing a medium- or full-bodied structure, silky tannins, and balanced acidity. The wine profile combines the elegance and cherry notes of Sangiovese with the softness and spicy nuances characteristic of Merlot.
