Variety description

The variety is the result of intraspecific hybridization of Pinot noir and Cinsaut varieties. The vine is characterized by above-average growth vigor. The leaf is medium, round, five-lobed, with deep dissection and pubescence on the underside. Bunches are small or medium, conical, dense. Berries are small or medium, oval, dark blue in color with a thick waxy bloom.

The variety is hardy, not very sensitive to powdery mildew, but more susceptible to gray mold than Cabernet Sauvignon; not frost-resistant. It is used exclusively in winemaking to create single-varietal wines and blends. The finished product has a deep color, good tannins, and complex aromatics.
