The berries are small in size, with thick skin and a characteristic pinkish-grey or reddish hue, while the pulp and juice are white. The clusters are small and compact. The variety is characterized by an early or mid-season ripening period and historically low yields.
Wines from this variety possess lower acidity compared to Sauvignon blanc and pronounced aromatic notes of mango, melon, peach, apricot, and citrus. Due to its high sugar accumulation potential, the variety is often used in blends to increase the volume and complexity of wines.
