Variety description

The variety is a hybrid of Vitis berlandieri (variety Las Sorres) and Vitis rupestris (variety Lot). The plant has vigorous growth and a male flower type, as a result of which it does not form bunches. The shoots are vigorous and distinctly angular, the leaf is small, kidney-shaped, and often curved upward in the shape of a tube.

99 Richter is valued for its high drought tolerance and resistance to nematodes. It tolerates calcareous soils with a total carbonate content of up to 17–25% well. It is recommended for use on deep, permeable, and moderately dry soils, while it does not tolerate waterlogged and flooded areas.

When grown on fertile and irrigated soils, the variety can transmit excessive vegetative activity to the scion, which negatively affects fruit set. Resistance to fungal diseases is estimated as medium. As a rootstock, the variety influences the development of the scion's root system.
