Variety description

The variety is considered native to Provence, and the vines have medium vigor. The flower is hermaphroditic. Leaves are medium-sized, three- or five-lobed, with medium lobing and pubescence on the underside. Berries are medium-sized, white, slightly oval, with thick skin; clusters are dense.
It is a late-ripening variety, with harvest occurring in the second ten days of October. It has high and stable yields, and shoots ripen well. The variety is relatively resistant to diseases and gray mold, although due to cluster density, there is a risk of rot infection in some years.
Wines made from Bourboulenc are distinguished by good acidity and structure. Citrus, floral, spicy, and smoky notes predominate in the aroma and flavor. The variety is valued for its ability to maintain high acidity in the hot Mediterranean climate.
