The variety has moderate vigor and a medium or medium-late ripening period. The leaves are typically five-lobed. The clusters are medium-sized, cylindro-conical in shape, and often have wings. The berries are medium-sized, sub-oval, and black-violet in color with thick skins and a waxy bloom.
The plant is hardy, well-adapted to drought and a hot Mediterranean climate, though its yield can be irregular. The variety is used in winemaking to create blends, providing wines with saturated color and a high content of polyphenols and tannins, which contributes to their aging potential.
