The word «Brajda» is traditionally used to refer to a trellis or arch vine training system. In winemaking, this name is often used as a trade name for wines produced from a blend of various local varieties, or as an indication of products from specific vineyards.
In genetic resource registers, the names Brajda Mala and Brajda Velika are synonyms for the wine grape variety Plavina. It is a mid-late red variety, which is a hybrid of the Primitivo and Verdeca varieties. It is characterized by a bisexual flower and forms medium or large bunches with black berries. The variety is sensitive to downy mildew and gray mold, requires winter covering, and is used for the production of light red wines.
