The variety belongs to the mid-late maturity group. Vines have medium vigor and require cultivation on trellises. Leaves are medium or small, rounded, nearly entire or three-lobed, without pubescence on the underside. Clusters are cylindrical-conical, often compact, weighing 250–280 g. Berries are medium, ellipsoid, dark purple in color, covered with bloom.
The variety is characterized by low yield, medium frost resistance, but possesses resistance to rot and mold. Wines from Brachetto are distinguished by a bright aroma of roses, strawberries, raspberries, and herbs, soft tannins, moderate acidity, and low alcohol content. Genetically, it is a product of the natural crossing of Muscat blanc and an unknown variety.
