The Cegléd szépe variety was obtained in 1903 by crossing Chasselas Croquant Blanc and Chasselas Rouge Royal. Genetically, the parent forms are Bicane and Chasselas.

The plant is characterized by a late ripening period, low yield potential, and a long growing season. The variety is susceptible to grapevine leafroll virus.

Clone K.73 was selected during clonal selection work in Hungary. Its isolation is aimed at obtaining virus-free planting material and improving the phytosanitary condition of the crop.
