The Garrido Fino variety is autochthonous to southern Spain and originated from a natural cross between the Garrido Macho variety and an unknown pollinator. Synonyms include Charrido Fino, Garrido Fino de Villanueva, Garridos, Garrio Fino, Monstruosa, and Palomino Garrio.
The plant has hermaphroditic flowers, medium-sized five-lobed leaves with a "blistered" surface and pubescence on the underside. The clusters are large, conical or cylindrical in shape, and of moderate density. The berries are large, round or slightly elliptical, turn amber-yellow upon ripening, and have a thick and firm skin.
The variety is late-ripening and characterized by high susceptibility to gray mold, downy mildew, and powdery mildew. The produce is used for the production of young, refreshing, and orange wines, as well as in blends for sherry, due to its ability to retain freshness in a hot climate.
