The vines are vigorous, shoots form an average number of lateral shoots, and the cane matures well. The leaf is medium-sized, usually three- or five-lobed. The cluster is small or medium, cylindrical-conical in shape. The berries are small, rounded, dark violet in color with a thick waxy bloom, juicy flesh, and firm skin.
The variety possesses high drought tolerance, but is susceptible to downy mildew, gray mold, and black spot. Yield depends on growing conditions and vine growth control. Without control, the variety is capable of producing a high yield, but in an arid climate it becomes moderate.
The grapes are used for creating varietal wines and blends. Wines are characterized by a high alcohol content, moderate acidity, low or medium tannin levels, and aromas of red berries and spices. The variety is not a hybrid of Garnacha Tintorera.
