The variety is characterized by vigorous vine growth and high yield, which requires load control to maintain wine quality. Genetically identical to the Grecanico Dorato variety. The leaf is medium, rounded, five-lobed with dense pubescence on the underside. The bunch is large, loose, and cylindrical-conical in shape, which contributes to resistance to rot.
The berries are medium-sized, rounded, with golden-yellow skin. The variety is adapted to a long growing season and is traditionally trained using the Veronese pergola system. Garganego is used primarily for wine production, including dry and sweet versions made from withered grapes, and is less frequently used as a table grape.
