Garofanata B is an autochthonous grape variety with a history that can be traced back to 1870. Genetic studies suggest that the variety is the result of a natural crossing of Famoso Marchigiano, also known by the name Moscato Bastardo.

The plant is cultivated on small areas in the Marche region on clay and limestone soils. The variety is included in the official lists of grapes authorized for production in Italy and is the subject of scientific research studying vine physiology and susceptibility to Esca disease.

The variety is classified as a wine grape and is used to create wines that feature a characteristic aromatic profile. The name of the variety is associated with notes of cloves in the aroma; it is used to produce both still and sparkling wines, including those made by the Charmat method.
