The interspecific hybrid Golia, bred from Vitis riparia, Vitis rupestris, and Vitis vinifera, is intended exclusively for use as a rootstock. It possesses high growth vigor and demonstrates good adaptation to compact and calcareous soils.
The other variant of the variety Golia represents a grapevine for white wine production. It is sensitive to low winter temperatures, which affects bud viability and yield, and the timing of its phenological phases, such as flowering and ripening, may shift depending on climatic conditions.
The quality of wine from this variety depends on weather conditions: in cool years, floral and fruity aromas dominate, while in hot years, notes of rose and exotic fruits appear, accompanied by high content of sugars, alcohol, and dry matter. Currently, the possibility of cultivating this variety in ecological viticulture systems is being studied.
