French early-ripening variety, ripening in mid-August. The vines have medium vigor, with medium, rounded, five-lobed leaves. The flower is hermaphroditic. The bunches are medium or small, cylindrical, often winged, and compact. The berries are medium, rounded, greenish-yellow, and acquire a golden hue upon full ripening.
The variety has medium resistance to fungal diseases, is susceptible to downy mildew and gray mold, and is sensitive to winter frosts. The sugar content of the berry juice is 17–20 g/100 cm³, and the acidity is 6–7 g/dm³. It is used for producing table wines and base wines for sparkling wines, characterized as light, with pronounced acidity and subtle muscat notes.
There is also an Austrian variety, bred around 1960 by crossing Welschriesling and Müller-Thurgau, which differs from the French original.
