The variety is a rare ancient autochthon that is genetically related to such varieties as Querol, Pirene, Trobat, and Graciano. An important morphological feature of the plant is the presence of a female flower type, which makes it necessary to have pollinator varieties nearby.

The plant possesses excellent adaptability to challenging climatic conditions, including drought and significant temperature fluctuations, and belongs to varieties with a long ripening cycle. The fruits are used in winemaking for the production of wines with soft tannins and balanced acidity.
