The variety has been cultivated in Mallorca since at least 1711 and has a genetic origin from natural crossing. The plant is characterized by a vigorous vine with long shoots. Biological features include late maturity, irregular fruiting, low yield, and difficulties with rooting.
The variety is susceptible to downy mildew. Wines produced from this grape are distinguished by elegance, good acidity, and silky tannins. The organoleptic profile of the finished product is dominated by aromas of wild berries, in particular wild strawberry, as well as violet and black pepper.
