The variety is of natural origin and has been cultivated in Europe since the early Middle Ages. The plant is productive, characterized by large clusters and berries, as well as relative resistance to winter frosts.

The grape belongs to wine varieties. Historically, it produced wines with pronounced acidity and a neutral character; today it is sometimes used in blends to add freshness and structure. Currently, the variety has been practically displaced from mass production and is found primarily in collection plantings.
