The variety was historically distributed on the islands of Vis and Hvar, where it was primarily grown in mixed plantings. Currently, the variety has a status of critically endangered and has never previously occupied significant areas outside of its native islands.
The variety belongs to wine grape types. Due to its extreme rarity, detailed morphological descriptions, data on maturity periods and resistance to diseases are absent in open sources.
