Kosmas (also known as Gousmadia) is a local Greek variety adapted to a harsh alpine microclimate and high-altitude growing conditions at an elevation of about 800 meters above sea level. In official registers, the variety is listed under the name Kosmas N, where the index N indicates the dark color of the berries.
Wines from this variety are characterized by balanced acidity and soft tannins. In the traditional winemaking process for this grape, fir branches may be used during fermentation to manage the cap and impart specific organoleptic properties to the wine.
