The variety was obtained by crossing the Schiava Grossa and Muscat of Alexandria varieties. The bush is of medium vigor; on fertile soils, the growth vigor is above average. The bunch is medium-sized or large, conical, branched, sometimes winged, and loose. The berries are large, rounded or oval, violet-blue in color with a dense waxy bloom; the skin is relatively thick, and the flesh is fleshy and juicy.
The variety is sensitive to powdery mildew, downy mildew, and grey mold, has low winter hardiness, and requires covering for the winter. It is prone to flower drop and berry shriveling in unfavorable years. It requires sufficient irrigation, training on trellises or pergolas, and proper pruning.
