Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety name is historically used to denote two different crops: Graciano, known for high acidity, and Monastrell (Mourvèdre), a vigorous variety for hot climates. A separate hybrid, Morrastel Bouschet, obtained by crossing Graciano and Petit Bouschet, is also distinguished.

In Russian reference books, the wine variety is described as a plant with a growing season of approximately 163 days. The vine has medium vigor; leaves are three- or five-lobed, funnel-shaped, with wine-red spots during the ripening period. Bunches are cylindrical-conical, of medium density.

Berries are dark blue, rounded, covered with bloom, and have a thick skin and juicy pulp. The variety shows medium resistance to gray mold and oidium, but is susceptible to downy mildew and anthracnose. The frost resistance of the buds is limited to -21°C; the variety is demanding regarding soil moisture levels.
