ActiveVitis L. · Grapevine

The variety has a number of synonyms, such as Juan Ibanez, Concejon, and Miguel de Arcos. The plant is noted for being temperamental in cultivation, while possessing natural resistance to diseases and difficult climatic conditions. The vine forms medium-sized clusters with a compact arrangement of berries; the berries themselves are medium-sized, round, and blue in color.
In winemaking, the variety requires special attention due to the must's tendency for rapid oxidation. The resulting wines are characterized by moderate acidity and tannins, as well as a pronounced aroma of red berries with floral notes. It is important not to confuse this variety with the genetically distinct Monastrell and Graciano.
