The variety originated around 1850 in the Wachau region. The vine has medium or medium-strong vigor. Leaves are medium-sized, round, entire or three-lobed. Clusters are medium, cylindrical-conical, dense. Berries are medium, round, light green, turning a golden hue upon ripening.
The vegetation period is about 145 days. The variety has low resistance to fungal diseases such as downy mildew, powdery mildew, and gray mold, and is sensitive to adverse weather conditions, including flower drop during blooming. Yield is 100–120 c/ha.
Used exclusively for wine production. The resulting beverages are characterized by a full-bodied structure, moderate acidity, floral and spicy aromas in their youth, which change to notes of almond and hazelnut upon aging.
