The variety is a natural hybrid of the Mayolet and Roussin varieties. It is cultivated primarily in the Aosta Valley region and partially in Piedmont, where it is authorized for use in DOC category wines.
The berries are black in color. The variety is used for the production of red and rosé wines, imparting intense color and pronounced acidity to them. Due to its historical rarity, detailed agrotechnical characteristics of the variety are practically non-existent.
