The variety was obtained in 1976 as a result of breeding work crossing Castets and Abouriou noir varieties. The grape is characterized by medium vine vigor, good shoot maturation, and moderate lateral shoot formation. The shoot tip of the young shoot has light pubescence.
The variety is distinguished by high yield and significant sugar accumulation. A wine variety used for the production of red and rosé wines. The resulting wines possess high extract, intense color, aromas of spices and preserved plums, as well as pronounced tannins.
