The variety has a genetic relationship with the Tuscan Sangiovese. Young shoots have medium pubescence, and leaves are yellow with bronze spots. Mature leaves are wedge-shaped and can be five-lobed. Bunches are medium-sized, berries are large and elliptical in shape.
Belongs to the mid-late maturity group. The variety is drought-tolerant and adapts to low-fertility soils. Characterized by high susceptibility to gray mold (Botrytis cinerea) and sensitivity to Flavescence dorée, moderately susceptible to powdery mildew. Prefers short pruning.
The variety is intended for the production of red and rosé wines. Red wines have high acidity, tannin content, and an aging potential of 5 to 10 years, characterized by notes of spices, berries, violets, and mineral undertones.
