The variety is a natural hybrid that originated in the 19th century in the Austrian Wachau region. The vines have medium-strong growth. Leaves are medium, rounded, slightly or moderately lobed. Clusters are medium, cylindro-conical, often winged, and quite dense. Berries are rounded, light green, with a golden tan and waxy bloom.
The variety belongs to the early-mid or mid-ripening group. It is characterized by a fairly high yield of up to 100–120 c/ha and the ability to grow on dry slopes. The variety is sensitive to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and gray mold, and is also weakly frost-resistant and susceptible to spring and winter frosts.
The grapes are intended for winemaking. Wines made from it possess structure and moderate acidity, with the aroma dominated by spicy and floral notes, which transition into almond and walnut undertones upon aging. It is used both in monovarietal wines and in blends.
