The variety is a complex hybrid obtained by crossing (Saint Laurent × Portugieser) × Odessa Black. The bushes have medium vigor with upright shoots. Leaves are medium-sized, deeply lobed, turning blood-red in autumn. Flowers are hermaphroditic.
Clusters are cylindrical-conical, moderately loose, weighing 150–200 g. Berries are black-blue with bloom, small or medium, with thin skin and juicy pulp. The variety has medium resistance to oidium and downy mildew, good resistance to gray mold, and medium or good winter hardiness.
Wine from this variety is distinguished by an ink color, pronounced tannins, and notes of cherry, black currant, tobacco, and spices. The variety is used both for creating single-varietal wines and in blends to improve the tannic structure and color of other red wines.
