The variety is traditional to its region and is used exclusively for winemaking. It has the capacity for intense sugar accumulation while maintaining the necessary level of acidity. In a number of forms of this type, the flowers are functionally female, which requires the presence of pollinator varieties to ensure yield.
The vines of the variety are characterized by vigorous growth and relative resistance to gray mold. The harvest usually takes place in the second half of September. In literature, the variety may be found under synonyms, including Papaska cherna.
