The vine is characterized by medium vigor. The leaf is small or medium, predominantly five-lobed, reticulate-wrinkled, with weak spider-web pubescence on the underside. Clusters are small or medium, dense, cylindrical in shape. Berries are medium-sized, round, greenish-white in color, acquiring a reddish-golden hue upon ripening.

The variety belongs to the late maturity group with a growing season of about 150 days. Yield is low and unstable. Roussane is sensitive to winds, possesses low winter hardiness, is highly susceptible to oidium, white rot, and gray mold, and is weakly to moderately affected by downy mildew. Wines made from it are distinguished by complex aromatics, full body, and an oily structure.
