Variety description

10 August 2026

Genetic studies confirm the identity of the Serine N genotype and the Syrah variety. The term is often applied to traditional clones obtained through mass selection, which may differ visually and in taste characteristics from modern commercial clones.

The plant belongs to a late maturity group and possesses high growth vigor. It is characterized by more compact bunches and small, round berries. Compared to standard Syrah clones, old Serine forms show lower yields, increased resistance to gray mold, and produce more concentrated juice.

The variety is a wine grape and is used for the production of high-quality red wines with pronounced floral, spicy, and mineral tones. The letter N in the name stands for the black color of the berries according to the French classification.
