The variety is of French origin and has been known since the 17th–18th centuries. The leaves of the plant are medium-sized, round, and usually five-lobed. The flower is bisexual, the berries are medium-sized, round, and acquire a golden hue with a waxy bloom upon ripening.
The variety is of early or medium-early maturity with high yield. The plant has medium resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew, is sensitive to excess moisture, and has low winter hardiness. The thin skin of the berries makes the variety sensitive to grey mold, which is used to produce sweet wines.
Wines made from this variety possess a complex aromatic profile including notes of citrus, fruit, and honey. A characteristic feature is the ability to accumulate sugar at moderate acidity, acquiring an oily texture and nutty tones with aging.
