Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is autochthonous to the Isère river valley and historically grew in Savoy and the northern part of Drôme. Genetic studies have confirmed the origin of the variety from a cross between Chatus and Gouais blanc. It is often found under the name Sérénèze de Voreppe and is sometimes mistakenly identified with the Ciréné de Romans variety due to the similarity of synonyms.

At present, the variety is considered rare and is under the protection of specialized ampelographic centers. Detailed morphological parameters, data on disease resistance, and agrotechnical characteristics are not detailed in available sources.
