Variety description

10 August 2026

Muscat Hamburg is a variety of moderate vigor with average yield, maturing in late periods. Its bunches are distinguished by large size, loose structure, and ornamental quality, while the berries have a large oval shape, dark blue or black color, and a pronounced muscat flavor.

The plant is susceptible to many fungal diseases, such as downy mildew, powdery mildew, and anthracnose, and possesses sensitivity to winter frosts. The variety is characterized by a tendency for berries to rot, as well as unevenness in their size and color intensity during ripening.

The purpose of the variety is primarily table use, however, it is also used in winemaking, especially in China and Eastern European countries, for producing light dry red wines. The variety possesses good transportability.
