The variety belongs to the species Vitis vinifera and is a natural hybrid of the Traminer (Savagnin Blanc) and Roter Veltliner varieties. The variety is mid-late and high-yielding.
The plant is sensitive to frost and is susceptible to grey rot, powdery mildew, and downy mildew. The grape is valued for its ability to accumulate sugar and extractive substances, making it suitable for the production of high-quality dessert wines.
In winemaking, the variety is used both in varietal wines and in blends. In Croatia, it is traditionally grown in continental regions, for example in Plešivica.
