The variety is a selection of folk breeding and is a natural hybrid of the Koutsoumpeli and Mavrodaphne varieties. The plant is characterized by a hermaphrodite flower, a medium ripening period, high yield, and good general resistance to grape diseases.
The grapes are used in winemaking to create aromatic white wines with notes of lemon, apricot, and herbaceous undertones. There are local variations of the variety, which is why some sources contain information about its use in red blends.
