The variety is the result of a natural cross between the French varieties Dureza and Mondeuse Blanche. The vines are characterized by medium vigor, relative hardiness, and resistance to fungal diseases.
The bunches are cylindrical-conical in shape and of moderate density. The berries are medium, oval, dark blue or black in color with thick skin. Depending on the terroir, the wine profile varies from notes of black berries, olives, and pepper to shades of blackberry, plum, chocolate, and spices.
