The variety has an ancient history and many synonyms worldwide, including Pinot Grigio and Grauburgunder. The berries of this variety have a darker color compared to most white varieties, which gives the wines a characteristic golden or copper hue.
The characteristics of the variety strongly depend on the terroir, climate, and agrotechnical methods used. Harvesting can be carried out at different times, which allows for obtaining both light, refreshing wines with high acidity and full-bodied, complex drinks with aromas of fruits, honey, and nutty notes.
