The variety is a product of a natural cross between the Traminer and Österreichisch-Weiß varieties. The vine has weak to moderate vigor. Leaves are medium-sized, rounded, and three-lobed. Clusters are small, weighing 90–110 g, cylindrical-conical in shape, and dense. Berries are round, light green with brown speckles.
The variety is mid-ripening; in a number of regions, the harvest is collected in early to mid-October. It is characterized by moderate resistance to fungal diseases and is sensitive to grey mold, downy mildew, and chlorosis, as well as to winter frosts. The variety is high-yielding, but requires yield control to produce quality wine.
