The variety is the result of crossing the Kerner and Sylvaner varieties. The vines are characterized by medium or strong vigor; leaves are often entire. Bunches are small or medium, cylindrical or cylindrical-conical, often with a wing. Berries are medium-sized, round, light green to greenish-yellow in color, covered with a light bloom.
Mid-season maturity variety, possesses high resistance to winter frosts, exceeding that of the Sylvaner variety, however, it is susceptible to erinose and grey mold. Yield is moderate; the variety is capable of accumulating medium or high sugar levels.
The grapes are intended exclusively for winemaking. The wines are characterized as full-bodied, lively, and yellow-green in hue; they are often used in blends to provide aromatics. Sometimes used for the production of late-harvest dessert wines.
