The variety is used for the production of white wines, which are characterized as fairly simple and light, with good acidity and a neutral fruity-floral aroma. Historically, it has also been used in the production of vermouths and in blends with other varieties such as Verdeca, Greco, and Fiano.

The plant has a hermaphroditic flower and a round, five-lobed, hairless leaf. Clusters are medium, conical or cylindrical-conical, often winged, and dense or very dense. Berries are medium, round, white in color, covered with a waxy bloom, with medium-thick skin and juicy flesh.

The variety is distinguished by very high yields and is considered undemanding. It shows relative resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew, but is sensitive to spring frosts.
