A wine grape variety resulting from the natural crossing of Cabernet Franc and Magdeleine Noire des Charentes. The growing season from bud burst to technical maturity is 152–164 days. The vine is characterized by medium or above-average vigour and requires tying and training.

Clusters are medium-sized, weighing 113–150 g, cylindrical-conical, often winged, and medium-dense. Berries are black, round, medium-sized, with an abundant waxy bloom and juicy flesh with a harmonious taste. The variety is sensitive to drought, spring frosts, and flower drop; winter hardiness is approximately -22 °C.

Resistance to downy mildew is rated as medium, while resistance to powdery mildew and grey rot is low. The variety is used for the preparation of table and dessert red wines, as well as a blending component to improve other wines and juices.
