The variety is cultivated in the Epirus region, primarily in the area of Ioannina and the Zitsa appellation at an altitude of 550–700 meters. The vines are grown on steep limestone slopes using vertical shoot positioning.
Mid-season ripening wine grape variety, with harvesting occurring in early October. Used for monovarietal wines or blends, traditionally combined with the Bekari variety, to achieve a balance of tannins and color.
Wines from this variety possess high acidity and delicate tannins. The flavor and aroma profile includes hints of cherry, red berries, herbs, and earthy notes.
