The variety is autochthonous to the border regions of Italy and Slovenia. The plant leaves are large, pentagonal, and five-lobed. The clusters have a pyramidal shape and a dense structure; the berries are round, greenish in color, with juicy pulp.

The grapes are used for the production of white dry wines possessing pronounced minerality, salinity, and good acidity. The aromatic profile contains notes of pear, quince, sage, and hay. To create wines with a tannic structure and more intense color, winemakers use prolonged skin maceration.
