The variety is a clone of the Kadarka grape. In terms of morphological characteristics, it is visually similar to the traditional form of the variety, however, it possesses a looser cluster structure and thicker berry skin.

In agronomic terms, the clone demonstrates a better ability to accumulate sugar and a reduced tendency to rot during unfavorable years compared to classic Kadarka.

Virághegyi is a wine variety. Wine made from it is characterized by a darker color and a mild taste. The variety is used both independently and in blends to improve the tannin structure and color of wines, and is also among those authorized for the production of Szekszárd 'Bull's Blood'.
