The variety is used in winemaking. It has a number of synonyms, including Asproboulitsa, Asproboylitsa, Bolitsa Leyki, Volitsa Lefki, and is recognized as identical to the variety Asproudi Achaias.
Genetic studies have confirmed that the white variety Volitsa Aspri is not a mutation of the black variety Volitsa Mavri, despite the similarity of the names. The pedigree and parent forms of the variety remain unknown.
